I’m compiling a new poetry curriculum for middle school students (roughly ages 11–14) and would love to include fresh voices. I need original poems—no more than 200 words each—that speak directly to young readers in an inspirational, motivational way. Your work should touch on at least one of these three themes: • Nature and environment • Emotions and feelings • Historical events Feel free to approach the subjects from any angle, so long as the language remains age-appropriate, engaging, and uplifting. Subtle literary devices, vivid imagery, and clear, relatable messages are all welcome. Deliverables 1. 1–5 unpublished poems, 200 words or fewer per piece, supplied in a single Word or Google Doc. 2. A brief note (two sentences max) indicating which theme(s) each poem targets. Acceptance Criteria • Word count respected (verified via Word or Google Doc count). • Inspirational or motivational tone throughout. • Content suitable for middle school vocabulary and sensibilities. • Absolutely original work—you retain copyright until selected; chosen poems will require rights transfer for print and digital publication. I’ll review every submission and notify poets whose pieces are selected for the final collection. Looking forward to reading your work!
