I’m building Orchard Gallery, “the gallery that understands Apple photos.” The heart of the project is flawless Apple HEIC/HEIF support—images shot on an iPhone (even after Markup edits) must display and edit just as they do on iOS. Beyond that, Orchard Gallery should feel like a drop-in replacement for Samsung Gallery, retaining its familiar speed and layout while adding modern Android touches. Core experience I need you to create • Lightning-fast thumbnail grid, smooth timeline view and intuitive album management • Advanced HEIC/HEIF decoding with full Apple Markup compatibility and loss-free EXIF / metadata preservation • Offline-first architecture using Material 3 and an optional AMOLED-true dark theme Editing suite Pen, highlighter, text, shapes, crop, rotate and export to JPEG or PNG—all matching the look and feel of the native Apple editor. Extra touches I value Favorites, hidden album, recycle bin, robust video playback, quick search and an overall responsive UI that remains snappy on mid-range hardware. Deliverable A production-ready Android Studio project (Kotlin preferred) that installs as Orchard Gallery, meets the feature set above and passes a test set of iPhone-generated photos and videos—especially those modified with Apple Markup—without artifacts or metadata loss.
