FDQ ltd is a UK based Awarding Organisation providing assessment services to the food and drink industry and conducting end point examinations to 3rd year apprentice engineers. We have a busy 2026/27 year ahead with high numbers of apprentices approaching the end of their programmes and we are looking for qualified engineers (maintenance) freelancers that can be trained up by FDQ to assess the next generation of engineers. The primary role is to spend time on site observing apprentice engineers undertaking a range of maintenance tasks in a controlled environment whilst assessing their knowledge and problem solving abilities and skills. In addition, the commission involves marking projects, making informed judgements on skill assessments and writing a report on the apprentices performance. Experience from working in the Food and Drink manufacturing environment is desirable but not essential. Key requirements: - Experience with hybrid assessment methods - Strong grading and evaluation skills - Ability to provide constructive feedback Ideal Skills & Experience: - Previous apprenticeship assessment experience - Knowledge of relevant industry standards and practices - Excellent communication and organizational skills We pay a commissioning fee of £1,200 per apprentice (project), with freelancers expected to handle at least 2 commissions per month following training. Each commission involves approximately 20 hours of work, equating to £60 per hour. Please provide your relevant experience in your CV.
