We are looking for US English transcribers and linguists to join a multilingual AI data project focused on improving speech and language technologies. This remote, freelance opportunity involves working on audio transcription and annotation tasks to help create high-quality linguistic datasets used for AI development. Contributors will be responsible for producing accurate, verbatim transcriptions from audio recordings, reviewing and correcting machine-generated transcripts, segmenting audio files, identifying speakers, and annotating key audio elements such as timestamps, pauses, fillers, overlapping speech, background noise, speaker attributes, and other required metadata. The role requires following detailed project guidelines, maintaining accuracy and consistency, conducting self-reviews, and meeting quality and productivity targets. We are seeking candidates with C1–C2 proficiency and native-level fluency in US English, with a strong understanding of contemporary spoken language, grammar, spelling, punctuation, regional variations, and colloquial expressions. Ideal candidates have experience in transcription, subtitling, speech annotation, linguistic data projects, ASR evaluation, or language quality assurance, with backgrounds in linguistics, computational linguistics, NLP, phonetics, or related fields preferred. Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, the ability to interpret complex guidelines, and a reliable computer, internet connection, and headphones are required. Payrate for this task is $19.8/hr for transcription and $39.6 for linguists.
