My production EC2 instance (Linux) has become unusable and I need it brought back online quickly and safely. The immediate priority is to recover all databases plus the critical file and directory structure; however, if the damage proves deeper, I am open to doing a full-system restore instead of just a data-only recovery. You will need to evaluate the current snapshots, AMIs, and any available backups, then advise whether a point-in-time data restore will suffice or if we should spin up a brand-new instance and perform a full system restoration. Key expectations • Recover databases as well as file/directory data without loss or corruption. • Verify application services start correctly on the restored instance. • Document each step so future rollbacks or disaster-recovery drills are straightforward. AWS Console, CLI, and Linux sysadmin skills are essential; knowledge of snapshot management, EBS volume attachment, and possible use of AWS Backup or third-party tools will make this go faster. Once everything is restored and validated, I’ll take care of the final DNS or load-balancer switch-over.
