I'm reaching out to see if you would be interested in assisting with a retrospective engineering assessment for a residential project at Paddington, QLD. Ideal Steel was engaged by Finlayson Timber & Hardware to prepare shop drawings and fabricate a bespoke curved staircase and custom balustrades. Our scope was limited to the fabrication and supply of the steelwork—we did not install the balustrades or provide engineering certification. The builder has now requested a Form 15 for the bespoke steel balustrade system. We are seeking an engineer to assess the installed balustrades, including the fixing/connection design, and, if compliant, issue a Form 15 – Compliance Certificate for Building Design or Specification. We previously approached another engineer who advised that the balustrade system itself appeared satisfactory; however, they had concerns with the installed fixing arrangement and believed some anchors may require upgrading before they could certify the design. We are looking for an engineer who has availability to complete this assessment as soon as possible. We can provide all relevant documentation, including architectural drawings, shop drawings, photographs of the completed installation and any additional information required to assist with your assessment. If this is something you can assist with, we'd appreciate hearing from you at your earliest convenience. Please provide examples of your previous work.
