I’m putting together a personal research project and need a reliable way to pull director information directly from the UK Companies House database. The data I’m after is very specific: each director’s name, full contact details, and registered address and company name. Nothing else is required at this stage, so the solution can stay lean and focused on just that slice of the registry. The ideal outcome is a small, well-documented script—Python is perfect, but I’m open to another language if it offers clear advantages—that logs in, queries by company number or name, harvests the director records, and drops them into a clean CSV or Excel file. If the official API can deliver everything, great; if you need to combine API calls with a lightweight scrape for the address fields, that’s fine too, as long as it stays within Companies House usage rules and avoids rate-limit issues. Acceptance criteria • Script returns director name, contact information, and registered address in separate columns • Output encodes properly for UK characters and exports to CSV (UTF-8) • No missing rows for valid companies tested (I’ll provide a shortlist for verification) • Straightforward setup: a requirements.txt or environment.yml plus a brief README so I can rerun the job on my own machine without hassle If you’ve worked with Companies House or similar public registries before and can turn this around quickly, I’d love to see how you would approach it.
