I need a Virginia–licensed attorney to prepare and file a fully contested divorce petition on my behalf. The case is already tense, and the only point in active dispute is spousal support; parenting arrangements and property matters are not being challenged at this time. Your role will begin with a review of the marriage history, financial disclosures, and any preliminary correspondence to shape a strong initial complaint. From there, I expect you to handle drafting, filing with the appropriate circuit court, service of process, and the first round of motions or discovery requests that relate specifically to the alimony claim. If negotiations open up, you would also represent me in settlement discussions or, if needed, argue for temporary support at a pendente lite hearing. Please tell me about your recent experience with Virginia’s contested divorce procedures—especially Section 20-107.1 on spousal support—and how you prefer to structure communication and document sharing (e.g., MyCase, Clio, secure email).
