I’m looking for a developer (or small team) who can deliver a fully-featured desktop accounting application that runs smoothly on both Windows and macOS. The goal is to provide small-to-mid-sized businesses with a simple, modern alternative to cloud subscriptions while keeping data securely on the user’s machine. The core stack must include: • Invoicing with customizable templates and PDF/email output • Expense tracking with receipt attachment and multi-currency support • Financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash-flow) with export to Excel/CSV • Direct bank-account download/statement import using standard formats (OFX, QFX, CSV) Necessary integrations: • Payment gateways (Stripe and PayPal to start) for one-click invoice settlement • CRM sync so customer records stay up to date (initially via a REST API) • Inventory management link to pull stock levels and cost of goods for accurate reporting Project expectations 1. Cross-platform codebase with native installers for Windows (.exe or .msi) and macOS (.dmg). 2. Clean, intuitive UI; think QuickBooks-style navigation, but lighter. 3. Encrypted local data store plus optional cloud backup (AWS S3 or similar). 4. Modular architecture so future Linux support can be added without rewriting everything. 5. Clear documentation: setup, user guide, and developer notes for ongoing maintenance. Acceptance criteria • Both installers install, launch, and pass a basic end-to-end flow: create client → raise invoice → record expense → run P&L report. • All listed integrations authenticate and exchange data successfully in a test environment. • Source code builds reproducibly from README instructions on standard Windows 11 and macOS Ventura machines. Tell me briefly which framework (Electron, .NET MAUI, Qt, etc.) you recommend, how you’ll handle cross-platform database access, and a rough timeline broken into milestones (prototype UI, core ledger engine, integrations, final polish).
