I have a unique project. I’m trying to recreate my sister’s beloved baby quilt from 1984. Unfortunately, the original has been loved for over 40 years and is now worn into fragile pieces. I have one good photograph of the quilt when it was new. I’m not looking for someone to simply print the photograph onto fabric. Instead, I’m hoping to recreate the individual fabrics that made up the quilt. Would it be possible to: * Analyze the photograph and identify each fabric square? * Digitally recreate each print (sailboats, florals, monkey print, stripes, etc.) as closely as possible? * Create seamless repeating fabric patterns suitable for printing on quilting cotton? * Match the original early-1980s color palette and style? My goal would be to have the recreated fabrics printed onto quilting cotton so an experienced quilter can sew a faithful reproduction of the original quilt. I’d love to know: * Is this technically possible? * Have you done similar restoration or textile reproduction work? * What information or photographs would you need from me? * Which parts of the project would likely be straightforward, and which would require artistic interpretation? If some details aren’t visible in the photograph, can you recreate them in a way that’s consistent with the rest of the squares. This quilt has tremendous sentimental value, so accuracy is much more important to me than speed. Thank you!
