I’m building a small social-network site whose sole focus is letting people curate and share interesting links. The back end must run on Python 3 with Django; I’m happy with PostgreSQL for data, and you can keep the front end simple with Django templates or layer in React if that speeds you up, so long as it connects cleanly to Django’s auth system. What has to be in place: • Custom user profiles with avatar, bio and basic privacy controls • Two-way friend connections so users can follow each other’s link stream • Direct, real-time (or near real-time) messaging between friends • Link posts with title, description, tags and rich preview pulled via Open Graph • Feed, per-user timeline and quick search/filter Technical expectations – Django 4.x on Python 3.11 – Reusable apps for auth, messaging and feed – REST (or GraphQL) endpoints to keep a future mobile app option open – Tailwind for fast, responsive UI Acceptance criteria 1. Project spins up with docker-compose up and seeds an admin login. 2. Unit tests cover auth, posting, messaging and friend-request flow. 3. A clear README explains setup, env vars and migrations.
