Cinematic Documentary Editor for YouTube Series | Long-Term Opportunity $80- $100 USD Fixed Price Cinematic Documentary Video Editor Needed for YouTube Series (Long-Term Partnership) Please read the attached “Built to Host Brand Guide (READ ME FIRST)” before submitting a proposal. It explains the vision, emotional tone, and creative direction for the series. About the Project I am building a new documentary-style YouTube series called Built to Host. This is not a vlog, podcast, travel channel, or MrBeast-style edit. The goal is to tell meaningful stories about extraordinary people behind everyday places—coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, barbers, artists, entrepreneurs, and other local businesses. Each episode should feel cinematic, emotional, and timeless. This first project is Episode 1, but I am looking for someone I can build with for the long term. What I Need I already have all of the footage. I need an editor who can transform it into a documentary that keeps viewers emotionally engaged from beginning to end. I am looking for someone who understands: • Storytelling • Emotional pacing • Music selection • Sound design • Color grading • Smooth transitions • Documentary structure • Creating curiosity • Knowing when to let scenes breathe I am NOT looking for someone who only knows how to cut clips together. I want someone who understands why a scene should stay on screen for two extra seconds… or why silence can sometimes be more powerful than music. Style Think cinematic. Think Netflix. Think HBO. Think Anthony Bourdain. Think Chef’s Table. Think beautifully paced documentaries that make people feel connected to the person on screen. ⸻ This Could Become Long-Term If we work well together, I plan to hire the same editor for future episodes. My goal is to build a creative team—not just hire freelancers. Future positions may include: • Lead Editor • Colorist • Motion Graphics Artist • Sound Designer • Thumbnail Designer • Shorts Editor • Assistant Editor I want everyone involved to grow together. ⸻ Credits Every episode will include end credits recognizing everyone involved in production. Credits may include: Editor Colorist Motion Graphics Sound Design Videographer Story Producer Host Guest Sponsors I believe creative people deserve recognition for their work. ⸻ To Apply Please send: 1. Your BEST documentary edit. 2. Your BEST cinematic edit. 3. Your BEST color grading example. 4. Your BEST storytelling project. 5. Tell me what software you use (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, Final Cut, etc.). 6. Tell me why you enjoy documentary editing. Please do not send 20 portfolio links. Send me your three best projects that represent your highest level of work. Quality over quantity. ⸻ Important I’m looking for someone who wants to help build something people remember. If your goal is simply to complete another freelance job, this probably isn’t the right fit. If your goal is to help create a documentary series that people can’t wait to watch—and potentially become part of the creative team for years to come—I would love to hear from you. Let’s build something special. IMPORTANT: Full interview footage will only be shared with the freelancer selected for this project. Please base your proposal on the project description and sample footage provided. Also include links to: * Your best documentary edit * Your best cinematic edit * Your best color grading work * Your favorite project you’ve ever edited and why
