I want to capture the texture of my earliest years - birth through age 14 - with a series of in-depth, recorded interviews. Your job is not to ghost-write a memoir but to ask the kinds of searching questions a seasoned journalist would pose, and keep digging until the memories feel vivid, specific, and emotionally honest. The core brief • Timeframe: early years, 0–14 • Emphasis: the influential people who shaped me - parents, teachers, neighbours, faith leaders, political and community leaders, anyone whose presence steered my view of the world. Although the formal scope is my early life, I may touch lightly on my later life - especially moments tied to education, school life and personal growth - so intellectual flexibility is welcome. What I need from you • A thoughtfully structured interview plan that evolves as new themes surface. • A series of recorded sessions (audio or video) plus concise session notes highlighting key stories, names, dates and follow-up prompts. • A final summary document indexing the most significant anecdotes and people so I can reference them when I start writing. Ideal background You’ve done oral-history work, long-form magazine interviews, or documentary research. You listen closely, challenge gently, and know when to push for detail. Familiarity with tools such as Otter, Descript or similar transcription software will help keep our workflow smooth, but any reliable recording method is fine with me. I anticipate several three hour blocks spread over a few weeks, scheduled around our mutual availability.
