I have a home-movie DVD that covers my twins’ first couple of years. I’ve already written down the exact time-codes for every moment I want to keep and the single section I’d like removed. In addition, one clip lives on a separate CD and needs to be dropped into the finished sequence. I’m not sure whether either disc is standard video or just data, so you’ll need to be comfortable ripping from both layouts—VOBs, MPEGs, WAV, whatever we discover. In the end I’d like something that plays flawlessly on a normal DVD player; a high-quality digital copy (MP4/H.264) would be a bonus but isn’t strictly required. Here’s the flow I picture: • Extract the chosen segments from the DVD, omit the unwanted portion, and insert the clip from the CD at the designated spot. • Perform light colour and audio balancing so everything feels consistent. • Export the finished timeline and author a simple, menu-free DVD image or ready-to-burn folder. Acceptance criteria • All selected clips appear in the agreed order with smooth transitions. • The removed segment is gone. • The CD clip plays seamlessly at matching quality. • Final deliverable works on a standard DVD player (plus digital file if you supply one). Let me know which tools you prefer (Premiere, Final Cut, DaVinci, etc.) and how you want the original media delivered—physical shipment or a cloud transfer are both possible. Timeframe is flexible; preserving these memories with care is the main goal.
