Summary Firmware Optimization & UI Development for ESP32 + SX1262 LoRa Industrial Remote -Project Overview I'm developing an industrial long-range wireless control system consisting of two ESP32-based devices communicating via SX1262 LoRa modules. Controller Unit – Installed near the machine, monitors 3-phase power, voltage, current, and controls machine operation. Handheld Remote– Battery-powered portable controller with a TFT display and three physical buttons for remote operation. The core firmware and LoRa communication are already developed and tested. The project is not about building the firmware from scratch. The primary goal is to improve the existing codebase, optimize its structure, and design a polished, responsive user interface for the handheld remote. Scope of Work 1. Firmware Optimization * Refactor and clean the existing code. * Improve readability and maintainability. * Optimize memory usage and performance. * Remove redundant or unused code. * Organize the project into modular files where appropriate. * Preserve all existing functionality and communication reliability. 2. Remote UI Development Design a modern, clean, industrial-looking interface for the handheld remote. The UI should be smooth, intuitive, and responsive while remaining lightweight for the ESP32. 3. LoRa Communication * Retain the existing communication protocol. * Ensure stable and reliable communication. * Display communication status and connection quality. * Handle communication failures gracefully. # Hardware 1.Controller * ESP32 * SX1262 LoRa * 3-phase voltage monitoring * Current sensing * Machine control outputs *Supporting components 2.Handheld Remote * ESP32 * SX1262 LoRa * Rechargeable battery *Charging IC * TFT LCD display * 3 physical buttons * Buzzer/Haptic motor for feedback *Supporting components # Button Functions The handheld remote has three buttons: START– Start the machine. STOP– Stop the machine. STATUS– Navigate through pages and access device information/settings. # Device Functionality The system is designed for industrial remote operation of machines such as pumps, motors, and similar equipment. Features include: * Remote start/stop * Live voltage monitoring * Live current monitoring * Over-voltage protection * Under-voltage protection * Over-current protection * Under-load protection * Device status monitoring # UI Requirements The handheld remote should include multiple pages with smooth navigation. ### Home Screen * Machine status (Running / Stopped / Fault) * Connection status * Battery level * Signal strength * Current time/runtime (if available) ### Live Monitoring * Phase voltages * Current (while running) * Real-time system status ### Status Page * Device information * Firmware version * Hardware version * Session/Device ID * LoRa connection status * Battery information ### Settings Include configurable settings such as: * Display brightness * Haptic feedback On/Off * Buzzer On/Off * Low battery alerts * Minimum voltage limit * Maximum voltage limit * Minimum current limit * Maximum current limit * OTA update settings * Additional configurable system options # Deliverables * Optimized and well-structured firmware. * Clean, modular source code. * Modern UI for the handheld remote. * Smooth menu navigation. * Responsive button handling. * Documentation explaining the project structure and major modules. # Preferred Skills * ESP32 development * Embedded C/C++ * FreeRTOS * SX1262 / LoRa * TFT display UI development * Embedded graphics libraries (TFT_eSPI, LVGL, or similar) * Industrial embedded systems * Git version control.
