Job description: Overview: We are seeking experienced, self-motivated Freelance Patent Translators specializing in high-precision Japanese-Chinese (JA-ZHCN) translation. Key Responsibilities: External Patent Translation: Deliver accurate translations of foreign patent specifications, claims, and abstracts from Japanese to Simplified Chinese on a project-by-project basis. Technical Specialization: Translate complex technical texts in specialized fields, including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Pharmaceuticals/Biotech. Training & Professional Standards: Receive remote professional guidance and feedback to align with specialized patent terminology standards and client-specific translation rules. Deadline Management: Independently manage project schedules to ensure consistent and timely delivery of translated drafts. Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree or above. A background in STEM fields (Electronics, Telecommunications, Biology, Pharma, or Chemical Engineering) is highly preferred to understand complex technical disclosures. Linguistic Competence: Superior reading and writing skills in both Japanese and Chinese. Experience Level: * At least 5+ years of professional patent translation experience, OR A proven portfolio representing over 5 million words of translated patent documents. Translators specializing in the Japanese-to-Chinese (JA→ZH) direction are highly prioritized. Tools: Proficient in standard office suites and CAT tools, specifically Trados. Working Style: High self-discipline, meticulous attention to detail, strict compliance with deadlines and confidentiality agreements, and responsiveness during ongoing project communications. Passing a short, complimentary sample translation test is a mandatory prerequisite for all freelance onboarding and project assignments. the budget is an estimation, detailed information will be discussed after screening.
