Job Description: Gusto Payroll & Workers' Compensation Setup Specialist (US IT Staffing) Job Title: Gusto Payroll & Workers' Compensation Setup Specialist Location: Remote Job Type: Contract / Freelance (Short-Term Project) About Us We are a US-based IT staffing and recruiting company specializing in placing W-2 consultants with clients across the United States. We are looking for an experienced professional to set up our payroll system in Gusto and ensure our Workers' Compensation Insurance is configured correctly for the staffing industry. Key Responsibilities Set up and configure our Gusto payroll account from start to finish. Configure federal, state, and local payroll tax settings. Set up employee onboarding and payroll workflows. Integrate and configure Workers' Compensation Insurance through Gusto's insurance partner (or advise on the best option if required). Ensure payroll compliance for W-2 employees working across different US states. Configure direct deposit, payroll schedules, and payroll policies. Review and validate payroll settings before the first payroll run. Provide guidance on payroll compliance and best practices for a US IT staffing company. Train our team on basic payroll processing and administration. Required Qualifications Proven experience implementing and managing Gusto Payroll. Previous experience working with US IT Staffing, Recruiting, or Consulting firms. Strong knowledge of payroll compliance for W-2 employees. Experience setting up Workers' Compensation Insurance for staffing companies. Knowledge of multi-state payroll and tax compliance. Familiarity with employee onboarding, tax forms (W-4, I-9), and payroll reporting. Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently. Preferred Qualifications Experience with staffing agencies employing consultants across multiple states. Knowledge of employer tax registrations and state payroll compliance. Experience with Gusto integrations and payroll automation. Project Deliverables Fully configured Gusto payroll account. Workers' Compensation Insurance successfully set up and linked. Payroll and tax settings verified and compliant. Employee onboarding process configured. Successful test payroll (if applicable). Documentation and knowledge transfer for ongoing payroll management.
