For a brief college assignment I have to interview someone working in IT and present their story. The emphasis is on your career and professional journey—how you got started, key milestones, and lessons learned along the way. I will email a concise list of questions (around 10) and I only need 3-5 sentence answers for each, so the entire task should take no more than thirty minutes of your time. No deep technical essays are required; I’m simply looking for authentic insights drawn from your day-to-day experience in the field. Once you return the completed answers, the job is done. If you are currently employed in any IT role and can respond within the next few days, I’d love to hear from you. ----- The questions are: What is your job title, what are your main responsibilities, and what would you describe as the most satisfying/rewarding part of your job? Please identify at least 3–5 specific skills you need in order to perform your job and explain how you acquired these skills. Describe your typical day beginning when you start work until you go home. What are some of the most challenging things you do at work and what are the most challenging issues regarding the people that you routinely work with? Why? Please describe several of the time management strategies you use in order to make sure you are meeting deadlines and accomplishing your daily tasks. How and when do you set goals for yourself in your professional life, and can you provide a few specific examples? What are some of the most effective problem-solving methods you use to resolve problems on the job, and can you provide a few specific examples? As you consider your previous jobs or experiences, what entry-level skills did you gain that help you in your current position, and what advice would you give to people who are just starting out and wanting to advance in their careers in general? How important is networking in your line of work, and how do you go about building a professional network in person and online? If you could go back to the beginning of your career, what would you do differently?
