I have a collection of contracts, NDAs, and statutory filings that must be translated with absolute accuracy. Because these are legal documents, every clause, definition, and reference number must carry over exactly as written, only in the target language. The precise language pair will be confirmed once we start; it may be English → Spanish, French → German, or Chinese → Japanese, depending on where the paperwork will be filed. If you routinely work in more than one of those combinations, even better. Quality matters more than speed—there is no hard deadline—so you can focus on producing a translation that would satisfy attorneys and regulatory reviewers alike. Consistency of terminology, preservation of formatting, and a short note on any ambiguous source passages are essential.
