I hold business calls on a website with Mandarin- and English-speaking participants. While we talk, I need each spoken sentence turned into plain text and instantly translated the other way—Mandarin to English and English to Mandarin—so I can read everything as it happens. Here’s what I’m after: • A small desktop utility or browser extension that listens only to the Meet tab’s audio, runs real-time speech recognition, translates it on the fly, and shows the results in a simple scrolling text window (plain text is all I need). • Both language directions handled automatically; no manual switching mid-call. • Minimal latency so the subtitles stay useful during live conversation. • Local install on my Windows laptop is preferred, but I’m open to a lightweight web app if it can reliably hook into Google Meet audio. • I’m not tied to any stack—Google Cloud Speech-to-Text, Azure, Watson, Whisper, or another engine is fine as long as quality and speed meet the goal. Deliverables 1. Fully working translator with a one-click installer or clear setup script. 2. Source code with comments so future tweaks are possible. 3. Short README explaining configuration, API keys, and typical latency. 4. Quick demo video or live walkthrough proving it works on an actual Meet call. Acceptance criteria: during a five-minute bilingual test call, the text stream must appear within two seconds of speech and remain >90 % accurate for everyday business vocabulary.
