I have an operational website that already processes online payments, but the current setup needs a thorough tune-up. Your task is to refine and extend the payment layer while keeping every stage—coding, testing, and demos—strictly in a local environment. Deployment to any public server is off the table, so you should be comfortable spinning up the full stack on your own machine and sharing results through screen recordings or repository pushes. Here is the scope I want covered: • Integrate additional payment methods or upgrade the existing ones for better reliability. Think Stripe, PayPal, or direct card processing via a gateway SDK—whatever fits once we review the current codebase. • Build out clean transaction-handling flows: authorize, capture, refund, and graceful error recovery with clear status updates. This will rely heavily on RESTful APIs and webhooks. • Create a robust test suite that exercises success paths, refunds, time-outs, and other edge cases so we’re confident nothing slips into production later on. • Apply essential security hardening—parameterized queries, tokenisation, CSRF protection, and secure storage of keys—without bloating the stack. OWASP top-of-mind throughout. I will provide repository access, dummy credentials, and sample payloads. We can sign an NDA before any code exchange if that makes you more comfortable.
