Logo Design Brief: Melanesian Ocean Reserve LOOKING FOR A PACIFIC ISLAND DESIGNER FOR THIS TASK The Melanesian Ocean Reserve (MOR) is the first indigenous-led Oceans initiative uniting Pacific Island nations to protect and sustainably manage the Melanesian marine region. The logo will serve as a central visual identifier across all communications and must align with the MOR brand style guide attached and the aesthetic currently represented on the MOR website: https://www.melanesianoceanreserve.org MOR Background The Melanesian Ocean Reserve (MOR) is a Pacific-led, Indigenous-driven initiative spanning over two million square kilometers across the sovereign waters in the EEZs (Exclusive Economic Zones) of Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea. It redefines ocean governance by centering Indigenous stewardship, ecological regeneration, and sovereign leadership. This Pacific focussed strategy and plan outlines how communications will support the MOR program to amplify its voice and build awareness and legitimacy to mobilise political and financial support across the region and world. MOR program is underpinned by the beliefs and values of Indigenous authority, cultural continuity, ecological integrity, sustainable livelihoods, regional solidarity, and climate action. These principles frame the Melanesian Ocean Reserve programs promise to the Pacific and people. Design Objectives • Create a logo that reflects the values, mission, and identity of the Melanesian Ocean Reserve. • Ensure the design is consistent with the MOR Brand Style Guide and complements the look and feel of the current website. • Integrate Melanesian cultural elements, with the option to feature traditional motifs such as the Tepuke Canoe paddle. • Communicate a sense of unity, cultural heritage, ocean stewardship, and environmental leadership. • The words “Melanesian Ocean Reserve” must be incorporated into the logo design.
