I’m building a project-management system on the MERN stack that supports multiple organisations, each with its own workspace filled with projects, Kanban boards and analytics dashboards. Only two roles are needed for the first release—Admin and Project Manager—with a clean role-based access-control layer so we can add more later. Users authenticate through JWTs, and every board action (card moves, comments, notifications, presence) must broadcast instantly via Socket.io for true real-time collaboration. Core functionality to deliver: • Workspace management where an Admin can invite and remove users and assign roles. • A Kanban board that lets Project Managers create custom column names, colour-code cards and drag items freely, with changes reflected live on every connected client. • Analytics dashboards that visualise project-progress tracking, user-activity reports and resource-allocation analysis, powered by MongoDB aggregation pipelines and rendered with a lightweight charting library such as Chart.js or Recharts. Tech stack & expectations: React 18 + TypeScript on the front end, Node.js/Express and Mongoose on the backend, MongoDB Atlas for data, Redux (or Zustand) for state, all containerised with Docker. Include unit and integration tests, a concise architecture diagram and a step-by-step deployment guide. Acceptance criteria 1. An Admin can create a workspace, invite a Project Manager and both can log in successfully. 2. Moving a card on one client updates every connected client within one second. 3. Analytics dashboards load in under two seconds with at least 10 000 records. 4. All protected routes reject unauthenticated requests and enforce role rules. 5. The codebase passes the provided test suite and starts locally with a single docker-compose up command.
