Core requirements: Modbus TCP server simulating up to 20 configurable tags (temperature, tank level, pump status, valve position, etc.) with both read and write support (holding registers, coils, etc. as appropriate). Must work with standard Modbus client tools (e.g., Modbus Poll, pymodbus client, QModMaster). Web control panel showing all tag values live — sliders for numeric tags, toggle switches for on/off tags. Changes from a Modbus client must reflect on the web page instantly, and vice versa (bidirectional sync). 2-3 one-click preset scenarios (e.g., "Normal Operation," "High Temperature Alarm," "Pump Failure") that update all relevant tags at once. Tags configurable via a JSON/YAML file — adding/renaming a tag should require no code changes. Setup & usage documentation: installation, running the simulator, and connecting external automation/SCADA software to it. Runs on standard Windows or Linux, no special hardware, no database, no cloud dependency. Modbus response time under 100ms. Out of scope: OPC-UA, authentication/multi-user, cloud hosting, mobile app. Deliverables: Modbus simulation engine (source code) Web control panel (source code) Sample config file with example tags Setup & usage documentation Demo showing the simulator responding to a real Modbus client (screen recording or live walkthrough) Milestones (~$300 total): Modbus simulation engine + working read/write over TCP — $50 Web control panel with live bidirectional sync — $200 Presets + config file + docs + handover — $50 Timeline: 5~7 days Screening questions (require answers with the bid): Which Modbus library will you use (e.g., pymodbus, node-modbus) and why? How will you achieve live bidirectional sync between the web UI and Modbus writes without polling delays >100ms? Link to a similar past project (simulator, SCADA tool, or Modbus/PLC integration) you've built.
