CAD Design Brief – Flat-Pack Laser Cut Fire Pit I’m looking for a CAD designer to create a production-ready laser-cut design to develop an original, commercial-grade flat-pack fire pit that is lightweight, durable, easy to manufacture, assembles without tools and optimized for CNC laser cutting. Project Requirements Design a flat-pack fire pit that assembles without tools. Base the overall appearance and proportions on the supplied reference photos but create an original design that is suitable for commercial manufacture. The fire pit should pack completely flat for transport and storage. Parts should slot together securely and be easy to assemble and disassemble. Include appropriate slot tolerances for laser cutting and assembly. The design should be suitable for CNC laser cutting from mild steel (material thickness to be discussed, likely 3–5 mm). Optional stainless steel for grill/hot plate. Incorporate features that minimise movement once assembled while maintaining structural strength. Leaving space on end pieces for logos and branding. The target market is RV/Caravan and camping industry so keeping the weight as light as possible but still strong enough. A simple, laser-cut fire poker made from 5 mm steel. Cooking Accessories: Please also design a removable cooking system consisting of a grill, hot plate, and or combination plate. All fit the same locating system and be interchangeable: 1. Grill Plate Sits securely on top of the fire pit. Includes a notched or keyed locating system so it cannot slide off during use. Easy to remove for cleaning and packing. 2. Hot Plate Interchangeable with the grill. Uses the same locating/notched system. Designed for even support and stability. 3. Grill/hot plate combo - Uses the same locating/notched system. Deliverables Production-ready CAD drawings. DXF files for laser cutting. STEP and/or DWG files if available. Assembly drawing or exploded view. Basic dimensions for all components. Files that can be modified in the future as the product range expands. The intention is to develop this into a commercial product, so I’d like a clean, practical design that is easy to manufacture, durable, and cost-effective while maintaining an attractive appearance. Also, a scalable approach so additional sizes can be developed in the future. Please optimize the part layout to minimize material waste on standard steel sheets while maintaining structural strength and portability. I would like to make 2 model sizes. With the option to scale to any size. I’m not finalized on sizes yet, but my thoughts were size 1. L400mm x W300mm x H300mm. - 2. L580mm x W400mm x H380mm.
