Descripción de la oferta

I am developing a 2D turn-based tactical game for PC/Steam and seeking one environment pixel artist to create and harmonize sprites for procedurally generated mission maps. The engagement begins with a small fixed-price paid compatibility-test milestone. If successful and we agree on the remaining milestone prices, the selected artist is expected to continue through the production phases under the same fixed-price contract. ## Art direction The game uses a mock three-quarter top-down perspective with artwork designed around 48 x 48 pixels per grid cell. The world is primarily post-apocalyptic dieselpunk; before the apocalypse, its technology was broadly comparable to the First World War and powered by mined elemental crystals. Regions include: - Stonehollow: high-altitude rocky desert and Machinist industrial settlements. - Ashbourne: blighted farmland and damaged rural settlements. - Frostmarch: frozen former penal colony and mining frontier. - Neverwood: corrupted forest defended by organized former royal wardens. - Cogsworth: destroyed dieselpunk imperial capital. - The Pit: indoor prison and mining facility. - The Crater: interior of a living crystalline alien ship. ## Work involved Assets include ground and connected terrain; roads, water and elevation; Half Cover, Full Cover and impassable objects; fences, buildings and regional props; indoor walls, doors and platforms; selected large "Hero" objects; and sample environments demonstrating each regional kit. I will provide: - A detailed brief and Excel asset list separating Core and Nice-to-Have work, gameplay classifications and technical templates. - Visual references and licensed asset packages that may be adapted where suitable. Full source packages are shared privately with shortlisted candidates. - A [functional map-system demonstration video](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kDnl50ZUjlkc0IeNot1wTV7M5AAsyAVS/view?usp=sharing), showing the current system with placeholder art. - Clear feedback and all Unity integration. Existing artwork comes from multiple sources and cannot be used unchanged. Suitable material may be adapted, but finished assets must share a coherent perspective, scale, pixel density, palette, lighting and material treatment. New artwork is required where no compatible source exists, particularly for the alien interior. Technical compatibility with the supplied templates is required. Cross-region visual reuse is flexible: artists may use shared topology with adaptable, recolourable or interchangeable surface, edge, bank, cliff and shadow treatments, or recommend region-specific production where it provides better overall value. Unity implementation and procedural-map programming are not part of the artist's work. ## Paid compatibility test The portfolio-tailored test will include adapting supplied artwork, creating compatible original artwork, at least one usable modular or grid-aligned asset, and production-ready files rather than concept art alone. The exact test deliverables, fixed price and included revision allowance will be agreed before work begins. ## Longer production engagement After a successful test and agreement on production pricing, the same fixed-price contract continues with: - Milestone 2: Complete Stonehollow and shared/reusable foundations. Several systems created here - including roads, common cover, fences, buildings and props - should provide a reusable foundation for later regions. - Milestone 3A: Complete Ashbourne, Frostmarch, Neverwood and Cogsworth. - Milestone 3B: Complete the Pit indoor environment. - Milestone 3C: Complete the Crater/alien-ship interior. Candidates should quote the actual amount required for each milestone based on their proposed workflow, useful asset coverage and expected reuse; the full budget is not guaranteed to be allocated. Milestone 1 is a separately priced fixed-price test within the same contract. Milestone 4 and deferred mission-mechanism work are excluded. There may be a substantial development and testing pause between Milestone 2 and Milestone 3A. The artist may take other work during it, but should intend to return for the remaining production phase. Separate future work may include a strategic world map; relevant experience is welcome but optional. ## What to include in your application Please provide: 1. One to five relevant portfolio examples, especially environment pixel art, modular tilesets, three-quarter top-down assets or game-ready sprite libraries. One strong relevant example is acceptable. 2. Your availability for the paid test. Its fixed price will be agreed after the tailored test scope is supplied. 3. Brief confirmation that you are interested in completing both production phases if selected. 4. Experience, if any, adapting licensed artwork into one coherent style. 5. **Optional:** Briefly describe any workflow you would use to improve cross-region reuse, or recommend a more practical alternative. Shortlisted candidates will privately receive the full brief, workbook and licensed source package. Please then estimate Milestone 2, Milestone 3A, Milestone 3B and Milestone 3C, followed by the combined Milestones 2-3 total. Estimates can be refined after the test. Please keep your application focused on the points above.
