Short-Form Video Editor for Instagram and YouTube We are looking for a talented video editor who knows how to turn raw footage into engaging, high-retention short-form videos designed to perform well on Instagram and YouTube. You should understand modern social video editing, strong hooks, fast pacing, visual storytelling, captions, visual pattern interruptions, and the editing techniques that keep viewers watching. Scope of Work We will provide approximately 10 to 30 videos per month. Most videos will be approximately one minute - 90 seconds long. Each video will need to be edited in two formats: Vertical 9:16 for Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts Horizontal 16:9 for YouTube The content may include talking-head videos, educational clips, promotional content, social media videos, and expert-driven business content. Editing Responsibilities You will be responsible for: Editing raw footage into polished, engaging short-form videos Creating a strong opening hook within the first few seconds Removing pauses, mistakes, filler words, and unnecessary content Improving pacing and viewer retention Adding professional captions and on-screen text Using visual transitions, zooms, graphics, B-roll, sound effects, and pattern interruptions when appropriate Formatting every video for both vertical and horizontal platforms Maintaining consistent branding across all videos Selecting music and sound effects that support the content without becoming distracting Delivering organized project files and final exported videos Making reasonable revisions based on feedback What We Are Looking For The ideal editor: Has experience editing short-form videos for Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, or similar platforms Understands what makes social videos engaging, shareable, and highly watchable Can create polished edits without making the videos feel overproduced Has excellent attention to detail Understands pacing, storytelling, captions, and viewer retention Can follow brand guidelines and replicate an established editing style Communicates clearly and responds reliably Can consistently meet deadlines Is open to feedback and revisions Can work independently without needing constant direction Experience editing business, educational, personal-brand, coaching, sales, or thought-leadership content is preferred. Volume and Turnaround We expect to provide approximately 10 to 30 one-minute videos each month. Please include your typical turnaround time for: One video Five videos Ten videos Please also explain how many videos you can realistically complete each week while maintaining high quality. Pricing Request Please provide both of the following: 1. Flat Rate Per Video or Project Include your rate for editing one approximately 60-second video into: One vertical version One horizontal version IMPORTANT: Please factor all pricing to include two rounds of revisions in your price per project rate. 2. Monthly Ongoing Rate Please provide your monthly rate for editing approximately 10 to 30 videos per month. We are also open to eventually hiring the right person as a full-time member of our team. Please include your expected monthly compensation for a full-time video editing position. Do not apply if you are not seeking a full-time video editing position. We desire to find the perfect member to join our team. Work Schedule Our team works during United States Pacific Time business hours. If we offer you a full-time position and you accept it, you must be available during normal United States workdays and have consistent working-hour overlap with our Pacific Time team.
