The project centres on a small, self-propelled barge dedicated solely to transporting deck cargo. Target payload is modest—about 4 tons—so the hull form, scantlings, and propulsion package must be optimised for efficiency rather than brute capacity. I will be operating in sheltered coastal and riverine waters, therefore shallow draft and straightforward maintenance are priorities. Scope of work – Develop the full concept and preliminary naval-architecture package: lines plan, hydrostatics, intact and damaged-stability calculations, weight estimate, and preliminary scantling plan that aligns with a recognised class standard (ABS, BV or equivalent). – Size and specify a compact propulsion system (diesel mechanical or electric-hybrid are both on the table; I’m open to whichever meets the performance and maintenance goals). – Produce a general arrangement drawing that clearly shows deck area, machinery spaces, fuel/electric rooms, wheelhouse, and safety gear. – Provide a concise build specification listing principal materials, coatings, recommended equipment, and any class or flag-state compliance notes that follow naturally from the design choices. Acceptance criteria 1. Documentation supplied as PDF plus editable CAD/Excel files. 2. Stability meets the selected rule set with 4-ton deck load distributed evenly or in a single concentrated point load amidships. 3. Propulsion calculation demonstrates at least 6 knots in calm water with 10 % power reserve. 4. Drawings and spec clear enough for a fabricator to quote without further naval-architecture input. Timeline and collaboration I will handle regulatory liaison and detailed engineering after this stage, so quick responses to clarifications during the concept review phase are essential. Once the above deliverables are approved, the milestone is complete and the files are released for the detailed design phase.
