Senior Kong API Gateway / AI Platform Security Architect (Contract) Overview: Seeking a hands-on Senior Kong API Gateway and Cloud Security Architect to help evaluate, design, and implement secure gateway solutions supporting both enterprise APIs and emerging AI/LLM platforms. This role partners with platform, cloud, and security teams to embed governance, security controls, and architectural best practices into modern gateway deployments. Strong API gateway experience is the priority; AI experience is a plus. Responsibilities: * Design and implement enterprise API and AI gateway architectures. * Collaborate with platform, cloud, and security teams to define secure, scalable solutions. * Establish security guardrails, governance, and architectural standards. * Provide guidance for AI/LLM, MCP, and agentic AI integrations. * Evaluate cloud-agnostic and protocol-agnostic gateway technologies. * Support deployment, operationalization, and ongoing governance of gateway platforms. Requirements: * Strong experience with enterprise Kong API gateway or other (Apigee, AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, MuleSoft, or similar). * Cloud architecture or engineering experience across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP. * Deep knowledge of API security including OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, IAM, Zero Trust, and gateway policy management. * Experience working across security, platform engineering, DevOps, and architecture teams. * Excellent communication skills with a hands-on engineering mindset. * Exposure to AI gateways, LLMs, MCP, or AI security/governance is preferred but not required.
