Overview: We are looking for an experienced Backend Developer / Systems Integrator to set up and configure a local MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server on a dedicated Windows PC. The goal is to bridge our local, on-premise SQL Database with AI tools (such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude Desktop, or Cursor) so we can query our database securely using natural language. Remote Access & Working Method (Important): Full Remote PC Access Provided: You will be given direct remote desktop access to our dedicated Windows PC using AnyDesk, TeamViewer, or UltraViewer to perform the entire installation and configuration. Database Access: We will provide you with a secure, Read-Only SQL credential strictly for testing the database connectivity from the MCP server. Technical Environment: Host OS: Dedicated Windows 10/11 Pro PC (connected via local LAN). Database: On-Premise SQL Server (Local Network). MCP Protocol: Standard Stdio transport protocol (Local LAN environment). Language Preference: Python or Node.js/TypeScript. Scope of Work: Environment Setup: Install and configure the necessary runtime environment (Python or Node.js) on our dedicated Windows PC via remote access. MCP Server Configuration: Develop or deploy an MCP SQL server package that connects to our local SQL database using the provided Read-Only connection string. Tool Mapping: Expose the necessary database schemas, tables, or specific views as "Tools" that the AI agent can interpret and query. Background Service: Configure the MCP Server to run seamlessly as a Windows Background Service (so it automatically starts when the PC boots up). Delivery: Provide the final mcp.json configuration file ready to be used by the AI client, along with brief instructions on how to restart or maintain the service. Requirements: Proven experience with Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP). Strong proficiency in Python or Node.js. Expertise in SQL Server / T-SQL and database connectivity. Familiarity with Windows environment administration (setting up environment variables, windows services, etc.). Ability to work efficiently via remote desktop sessions.
