Project Title The Sudan National Infrastructure and Connectivity Initiative (SNICI) Vision "Building One Sudan Through Roads, Water, Energy, and Digital Connectivity." Objectives Connect every state with modern highways. Provide reliable electricity to all communities. Improve access to clean drinking water. Modernise railways and airports. Expand internet and telecommunications nationwide. Create jobs and stimulate economic growth. Main Components 1. National Highway Network Construct or rehabilitate highways linking major cities, including: Khartoum Port Sudan Wad Madani Kassala El Obeid Nyala El Fasher Dongola Atbara Kosti Benefits: Faster transport Lower trade costs Better emergency response Easier movement of agricultural goods 2. National Railway Modernisation Upgrade existing rail lines and extend service to underserved regions. Features: Passenger trains Freight transport Links between farms, factories, and ports 3. Energy for Every Community Develop a mix of: Solar farms Wind power Hydropower Modernised electricity transmission lines Goal: Reliable electricity for homes, hospitals, schools, and businesses. 4. Clean Water Programme Invest in: Water treatment plants Boreholes Pipelines Irrigation canals Flood protection systems Benefits: Improved public health Greater agricultural productivity Better resilience during droughts 5. Digital Sudan Expand: Fibre-optic networks Mobile coverage Public Wi-Fi in schools and hospitals Digital government services 6. Education Infrastructure Build and renovate: Schools Universities Technical and vocational training centres Libraries 7.
