Solar Engineer (Chinese national living in Vietnam) WIDEX SOLAR leads the charge in delivering tailored renewable energy solutions across the region. We are committed in helping each client optimize their approach, reducing both costs and save the planet. Mandatory Requirements Chinese national legally residing in Vietnam. Available for part-time/freelance engagement on rooftop solar projects in Vietnam. Able to travel to project sites throughout Vietnam as required. Key Responsibilities 1. Construction Supervision Monitor construction progress and workmanship throughout all project stages, including mounting structure installation, equipment installation, electrical connections, testing, and commissioning. Ensure contractors comply with occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations, including working at height, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and fire prevention measures. Coordinate with contractors to resolve on-site issues, such as design discrepancies, non-compliant materials, and changes in customer requirements. Organize progress review meetings and provide regular project updates to the management team. 2. Quality & Safety Management Conduct routine inspections and testing, including grounding resistance, insulation resistance, and solar PV system performance. Assess technical risks and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions. Inspect and monitor contractors to ensure compliance with safety and quality procedures throughout the construction process. 3. Internal & External Coordination Coordinate with internal departments to ensure engineering drawings, materials, and construction plans support the overall project schedule. Work closely with the Project Manager and contractors to resolve technical and construction-related issues. Liaise with power utilities and relevant authorities during inspection, grid connection, and system commissioning, when required. 4. Documentation & Reporting Prepare detailed reports on construction progress, quality performance, and technical issues for management. Review and accept as-built documentation, handover dossiers, and operation & maintenance (O&M) manuals submitted by contractors. Monitor system performance after handover and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to resolve any operational or technical issues that arise. Candidate Requirements 1. Education Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline. 2. Experience Minimum one (1) year of experience in the electrical or solar energy industry. Candidates with experience supervising the construction of rooftop solar projects of 500 kWp or above will be given preference. 3. Personal Attributes Detail-oriented and proactive. Committed to long-term employment. 4. Skills Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Experience with PVsyst or other power system simulation software is an advantage. Able to read and understand technical documentation in English; spoken English communication skills are an advantage. Able to interpret structural drawings and possess knowledge of roofing materials and roof structures. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills when working with contractors.
