Project Proposal Project Title Sudan–South Sudan Infrastructure Connectivity Project (SSICP) Executive Summary The Sudan–South Sudan Infrastructure Connectivity Project aims to strengthen economic cooperation and regional integration by developing modern transportation, energy, digital, and trade infrastructure between the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan. The project will improve connectivity, facilitate trade, create employment opportunities, and support sustainable economic growth while enhancing regional stability. Background Sudan and South Sudan share extensive economic, cultural, and geographic ties. However, limited and aging infrastructure continues to hinder trade, investment, and the movement of people and goods. Investing in cross-border infrastructure will help unlock economic potential and improve access to markets and essential services. Project Objectives Improve road and railway connectivity between Sudan and South Sudan. Expand regional electricity transmission and renewable energy infrastructure. Develop cross-border digital communications networks. Modernize customs and border facilities. Promote regional trade, investment, and economic development. Support long-term cooperation between the two countries. Project Components Transportation Infrastructure Construction and rehabilitation of major highways. Rehabilitation and modernization of railway corridors. Development of bridges and river transport facilities. Construction of logistics centers near border crossings. Energy Infrastructure Cross-border electricity transmission lines. Solar power plants and mini-grid systems. Modernization of substations and distribution networks. Digital Infrastructure Installation of fiber-optic backbone networks. Expansion of mobile telecommunications coverage. Development of digital customs and border management systems.
