I need structural specifications so I can safely cut a 7-foot opening in a load-bearing, wood-framed wall on the ground floor of my two-storey stacked condo. The wall supports the identical unit above, so the calculations and detailing must clearly demonstrate how the new header will carry that load without compromising the building’s integrity or my chances of passing inspection. Please provide permit-ready documents that include: • Header sizing and grade, with allowable loads and deflection limits • Framing layout showing all studs, jack studs, king studs, and any required posts or columns • Connection and anchorage details (fasteners, hangers, Simpson hardware, etc.) • Brief structural calculations or notes an inspector can follow PDFs are fine, but a DWG or similar editable file would be helpful for the contractor.
