I need a thorough inspection of an existing walkout wall to assess its structural integrity. The focus should be on the wall surface. Key requirements: - Inspect the wall surface for any structural issues - Report on the suitability of the wall We are currently renovating a basement at our property to comply with the City of Brampton's building code requirements. A valid building permit has already been issued for the project. The existing walkout to the basement was constructed approximately 20–25 years ago. The staircase width is 36 inches, which complies with both the approved drawings and the applicable building code. Photographs of the existing walkout are attached for your reference. The right-side wall of the staircase is currently 7.5 inches thick, whereas the City has indicated that a 10-inch wall is required. After discussing the matter with City personnel, we understand that a report from a licensed structural engineer confirming that the existing wall is structurally adequate may satisfy/waive this requirement. We would like to request a site visit from a licensed structural engineer to inspect the existing walkout and provide a written structural assessment. Our objective is to determine whether the existing wall is structurally sound and suitable for its intended purpose, thereby avoiding unnecessary demolition and reconstruction if it is not required. We are not requesting any demolition, construction, or repair work—only a professional structural evaluation and written report.
